Uruguay

Route

We flew from London Heathrow to Buenos Aires to start our world trip. After a day or two in Buenos Aires we took the ferry across the Rio de la Plata, to the small town of Colonia with its UNESCO World Heritage listed old town. We rented a small car and toured around Uruguay in clockwise fashion, passing through some lovely little provincial towns and villages and lots of green hilly country side and cattle ranches. This took us to the south coast where we made a stop at Cabo Polonio, and from here we made our way more or less along the coast, with stops at fashionable but out-of-season Punta del Este, at charming little Minas, and finally at Montevideo, from where we took a flight to Asunción, in Paraguay, via Buenos Aires.
